SIZE GUIDE

My patterns generally only show you the garment finished measurements; I don't really like size charts because I think you can see yourself between several sizes and end up choosing to grade between sizes on a pattern that you don't need to.  I'm a big fan of picking your pattern size based on ease; where you want a garment to fit, how you want it to fit.

However, if it helps you, please see my size guides below.

If you feel like you could slip into either size bracket, consider whether you consider yourself closer to an hourglass or pear shape.  It will be easier to alter the pattern that is closest to your body type; the Beatha block has broader shoulders than the Saorsa.

Beatha

Beatha is Scottish Gaelic for 'life' or 'being'.  I've chosen this to represent my original size pool because for me sewing is a huge form of self expression and I'd be utterly lost without it.

The Beatha block is based on a C cup, height 5'5" and cut for an hourglass figure. This size chart is based on a 2" increase/decrease in sizing from the base block size.

There is a slight overlap between body measurements in this and the Saorsa range, with size 20 being the numerical size in common, but the base block is of course different.

Saorsa

Saorsa is Scottish Gaelic for 'freedom'.  I've chosen this to represent my expanded size range because I wanted to be more inclusive in my sizing, through consciously drafting a different block and cut of my designs, rather than overgrading my patterns.

The Saorsa block is based on a DD cup, height 5'10" and is cut for a pear figure.  This size chart is based on a 2" increase/decrease in sizing from the base block size.

There is a slight overlap between body measurements in this and the Beatha range, with size 20 being the numerical size in common, but the base block is of course different.
